Week 4 Blog: Due September 23rd, 2012

This past week we have been working on Mousetrap cars.  Since this is the first year I assigned this project, I know it can use some adjustments and changes.  I would like your honest feedback on this activity such as what you liked and what you didn't like.  I would also like to know if you have any suggestions on how I can make it better for next year.  You guys did a great job overall and I hope you had a lot of fun!  Remember, you must have one original comment and comment on at least one other person's blog entry.  If you have questions, please try to ask them in class before Sunday.  If your blog will not save/post, please send me an email and I will post your comments for you.

  1. I liked the project. I think you did a good job on telling us everything we needed to know so that we could make the mousetrap car. I had fun putting the car together i thought it was amazing how you can make a car that is run off of a mousetrap. Next year you should do the same i think you did a great job.

    2. I think it was boring for you since you finished yours at home.

      Delete
    3. I agree with you that it was kind of boring but overall for me it was frustrating becasue it wouldn't run and time was ticking away. However I think that adding outside forces like gas tanks is a great idea.

  6. The project seemed fun, but I think a lot of people were really lost at first. After I made it I really liked it, except when it didn't want to work. What I didn't like it was that it seemed really sudden to me. Ofcourse that's just me though.

    1. Yeah I agree with it being very sudden, it was out of nowhere :s I would have liked to have known a bit earlier.

    2. I agree i was lost too at first but then it was fun and it was interesting.

      Delete
    3. I really agree with how you said it was sudden because it did come as a surprise. But it was very fun and cool to solve how to fix one!

  7. I actually liked this project! It was kind of frustrating, but fun. I enjoyed working with Lisa and putting the glitter on the car. I was not too fond of the fact that the car was working the night before, but when we got to school it did not move.

    1. Maybe y'all didd something different the night before. On your first try its really a trial & error thing.

  8. I really liked the idea of building and creating your own car using a simple thing like a mouse trap. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though it was a bit complicated, we eventually build it. It was great working with a partner, it helped out a lot. Thanks for building a model to show us how it should work.

  9. This project was sooooo much FUN!! I really did enjoy it! I think you should do it every year. These kinds of projects make the class more Fun and Interesting! You did a fantastic job with this project. I hope we get to do the Egg Drop this year cause it looks really FUN!! :)

  10. It was fun but i was so annoying that the cars wouldn't move, but nevertheless the project was fun

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah! The annoying and the hardest part was when like I got excited after making my mousetrap car but when I put it into motion it barely moved. The Nice part is when I felt like if I accomplished a Goal after it passed the 5 Meters:)

  11. I liked this project, but I got frustrated and felt very rushed when I had to mend some parts. I feel you did a great job in aiding us. ^_^ I think a lot more people would like to do this project as well. I also hope we get to do the Egg Drop, like Samantha said :D

  13. I REALLY enjoyed this project:)It cost me some trouble at first but it was FUN.It put our minds to think a little more than we do.I We actually learn from hands-on projects such as BUILDING A CAR. (=

  14. I really liked the mouse trap car project it was fun and what I liked the most was that you weren't so harsh on us by the results:) and I suggestion I would make is to get a list of the people who want to buy supplies so you won't have to be worried the last minute to get them :) thankz Ms.Ego for being nice as fun:)

    ReplyDelete

    1. yeah I think puting a supplies list would be a good idea for next year

  15. I think the project was fun. At first it was kinda hard because the car wouldn't go but it got better when we started working on it more. I think you should do the same thing next year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think this project was fun over all but was very frustrating when not knowing why the car wouldn't move or the car would turn when the wheels were on straight. Next year I think you should do the same.

    1. Yeah it was kinda frustrating at first when you didn't have a clue why your car didn't wanna work, but later when it finally worked you just couldn't help but feel like a genius.

  17. I and fun with this project, but I saw some other people that were real irritated that parts would come off and that it wouldn't go which made me think I got lucky that only one wheel was messed up on mine. I think it you should do it next year.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jaja a wheel was messed up but lots of people had to do some adjustments too.

      Delete
    2. I was one of those irritated people! haha We didn't have anything fall off except one wheel too. My frustration was with the string and our choice of wheels, but we sort of figured it out.

      Delete
  18. In my opinion I found this project fun.I had a little trouble along the way figuring out how the string would be tied and turned so that it could be pulled properly so that it would be able to move. But overall it was a very fun project I learned how to power the car I made with a simple mousetrap and plus I enjoyed decorating and styling my car.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yea the string was hard to figure out how it would work right on the car.

    2. I think your car was the best and it was so original. Lol I'm jealous.

  19. I liked this project very much with all the glue and assembling the mouse trap into a car thingy. However, some people had some problems with finishing it on time. I hope to see people do it next year and struggle. :D

  20. i liked this project it was hard at first but after i fixed some things it was all good

    ReplyDelete
  21. Over all the project was simple to design, the trick was putting it together since it was so small. It was fun yet frustrating at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The project was both a challenge and entertaining. It makes you think in what ways you can make your car better. It would be a good challenge for the people of next year

  23. At first i was kind of lost, but then i got it. I liked that i got to work with a partner and it made it made it easier. It was kind of tough but it was enjoyable & fun. I don't think you should change anything

  24. I honestly did like this project. Like others have said, it was kind of sudden. I wasn't expecting a hands on activity like this so soon.Over all though, it was fun but VERY frustrating. I feel like me and my partners problem was just having time at home to actually think it out and put it together. That's just us though. I enjoyed seeing everyone's creativity :) You should keep doing this project! It's a good challenge!

    1. Yes, very frustrating lupita we never had time for it!!! Glad we still had fun (:

  25. I really liked this project. It was a huge challenge especially for me since i have never really had to build anything before. I love hands on projects they are so much fun. The biggest challenge for me was to have time to do this project. Since i am in band it was really difficult to find time for my partner me to do this to our full best. Yes, my partner and me had a difficult time with this project but it really prepared us for future projects. You should keep doing this project it was really fun.

  26. I actually loved this project! I have absolutely no complaints! I think actually building it was the best part. What I really liked is that we could have gotten creative with it and made it our own way. I think the 5 meters was a perfect distance. Maybe for next year, you could give extra credit if the car goes any further!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The mouse trap cars were fun to make and i really liked this project, however it was sort of frustrating making the cars go a certain distance and putting them together. Regardless this is a great project where people use trial and error to help them make their cars better. I can't think of any adjustments to this project, i think its fine the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I had lots of fun making my car! Yes, it was very frustrating and all, but it was worth it. I appreciate the fact that you let us use class time to work on our cars. Maybe next year, you could give us a bit of more time just to make the cars even better!

  29. I really liked this mousetrap car project because it was challenging and it allows us to be creative, it brought out our imagination. The thing that I didn't like was that this hands on project, eventhough I like hands on projects, was very sudden and I was lost in the beginning. My suggestion for next year is that you should keep doing the project but give them more time to be able to test the car and make adjustments. Overall, this project was very fun and something totally new to me.

    1. Yes, i agree with gustavo. I was really rushing at the end of class to finish the project, but at the end i did finish.

    2. i agree a total planning faze would have made a huge difference in our outcome.

  30. I liked doing the mousetrap project !!! It was easy and funnnn :)) I really enjoyed it. I think the rubber band wayyyyyyy better instead of using any strings

  31. I had a lot of fun with this project. At times i wanted to just throw my car on the floor and stomp on it, but it worked out for the better. (:

    1. I know what you mean, i actually did throw my first attempt at the car at my wall, so i remade it, and it worked perfectly.

  32. I really enjoyed this project, and the only thing i would probably change is to use something a bit stronger and try to do it for speed and not distance.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i agree it should be tested more on speed than distance. Beacause it would be fun knowing which car is the fastes.

  33. I liked the project it was fun to make a car out of a mousetrap and random stuff in the classroom. It really made me think on how to make it run and how the car works.

    1. i agree with Jose. The project was a lot of fun and it was not that difficult but it made me work harder at getting it done.

  34. I liked it even though we had only one time to make it so we couldn't mess up alot but at the end our cheap car was successful and I enjoyed it

  35. velocity is describing speed and speed is how fast or how slow an object is moving

  36. I thought this project was odd at first. I thought it would be impossible but it turned out to be more or less possible for my group seeing as are car never actually worked!I thought it was neat though. I agree with Cynthia Luevano, you should do a extra credit opportunity next year!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I also thought it was odd too lol I thought it was impossible to make a mousetrap car

  37. The project was fun! Little bit confusing at first though...

  38. i liked the ingenuity aspect of project. i wish that there were more tips EX how to fix wobbling weals. i figure that with more experience the project will get even better the next year.

  39. I had fun with this project. I liked everithing and it was going all good until i changed my string, the car wouldnt go. I tried to fix it but now it woulndt go, at that moment i thought about just throwing my car on the floor.

  40. The project was awesome and mist of us did pretty good. I know there are some of us that really put a lot of time in it and some that just rushed to put something together. Maybe next year you can give a prize yo the person that travels the farthest? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. I like this project, but also like maybe some others had a little problem making run the 5m. but over all I enjoy building the little car.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This project was fun but very frustrating. I stayed up late and i got burned and went through so many mouse traps. I think you should show more examples of mouse cars because i think there should be other ways to make cars but if not just show examples and give a list of materials that maybe needed.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I really like the project execpt for being snap by the mousetrap a few times._. I think you should gives only surtian amount of material we can use so it could be more challenging.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I really liked building the car. At first I thought it was impossible to build but we got it. I agree with Josue, you should show us more examples.

  45. Rolando Rodriguez: This project was very frustrating.. It was okay though. My first distance was 2.5 meters, but it did pause in one moment. The second one was amazing and did go about 4.9 meters far smoothly.
