Week 10 Blog, Due Sunday, November 4th, 2012

We have started talking about Newton's three laws and different types of forces.  Observe the world around you and apply the appropriate law to what it is you are observing.  Also, include at least one example of force you can observe and name the force(s) involved in the system.  Remember, you must complete an original post PLUS comment on another person's post.  This must be completed by Sunday, November 4th at 11:00 pm for full credit.  If you have any questions, please let me know BEFORE 9:00 pm on Sunday.  Happy Posting!

  1. a bird flying is an example of newtons third law because the wings push down and the air pushes the opposite direction keeping it in the air.I think the applied force would be one applied to the bird flying in the air

  2. An example of newtons first law is a ball that is at rest until i move the ball with my finger(the unbalanced force) which then makes it start rolling toward whatever direction. The force would be applied caused by my finger.

  3. Everytime i catch a basketball, the object will stay in rest until i throw it to the next person. This is an example of Newtons First law, the unbalanced force of my applied force will cause the ball to move from my hands.

  4. When a plane flies it is an example of newton's first law (an object in motion stays in motion) and the plane's jets show newton's third law. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Forces would include gravity and air resistance

  5. When I catch a Softball, the ball stays in rest until I throw it to one of my Team mates. This is an example of Newtons First law, the unbalanced force of my applied force will cause the ball to move from my hands.

  6. When the break is suddenly hit on a car, the passengers head will continue to move forward until the seat belt restraints the body from proceeding forward. This is an example of newtons first law of motion.The seat belt's unbalanced force is what restrained movement.

  7. When sitting on a chair your body puts a force on the chair and the chair gives an equal force back.If the chair didn't give the same force you would fall on your butt.That's an example of newton's third law because it states that for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction.And the force applied would most likely be gravitational and normal force.

  8. When a car runs out of gas, people usually push it to a safer place. It is an unbalanced force acting on an object. The mass is the car, the person is using force so therefore it is the 2nd law of motion.

    1. Good example! Couldn't this also be an example of Newton's First law? You know, the wheels give inertia and the forces have to be unbalanced.

  9. When my sister and I fight it would be like Newton's Third law for every action there is an equal reaction. If she hits me, I would hit her back.

  10. An example for Newton's First Law of motion could be my dog. Whenever he gets loose and we have to get him, we pull on his leash. He is a stubborn dog though so he usually fights back. He digs his feet to the ground and drags them which can be inertia. We have to pull harder than the force he is using to get him to move.

  12. An example of Newton's First Law would be a golf ball. The golf ball will remain at rest until it is hit by the golf club (unbalanced force). The forces acting upon the ball would be gravity and normal force when it is on the ground, applied force by the club when it hits the ball, and friction (if the ball stays on the ground). If the ball is hit and it flies into the air, then the force would be air resistance.

  13. a good example of Newton's 1st law is bowling. The pins stay at rest until the bowling ball's force hits them which causes them to move.one of the forces that are used in bowling is frictional force.

  14. An example of Newton's third law of motion is when my family and i go to the carnival and get on the Bumper cars. When my car bumps into my mom's car it creates a force and pushes her car. But for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so my car is pushed back.

  15. An example of Newton's first law would be when a car is parked an another car comes and hits it causing it to move. The parked car was not in motion until, an unbalenced force caused it to move. A foce used in this type of situation is applied force because the the car that hit the parked car, applied a certain force on it.

  16. An example of Newton's third law could be when you push a heavy box. The force you put on the box is equal to its mass times acceleration. The more force you put into pushing the box, the faster it will go. You would be using an applied force in this case.

  17. Another example of the third law of motion is the keys on a key board, since the keys are push down the push back to the same place having an opposite direction .

  18. An example of the first law of motion would be when you kick a soccer ball. It will remain at rest until acted by an unbalanced force (your foot kicking it). The forces would be normal & gravitational while at rest. Then air resistance while in the air, and friction when its coming to a stop & applied when you kick it.

  20. An example of the third law of motion is two person on a skate board and they both push each other on the same force .. They both go in different direction causes by the forces the two person did to each other

  21. An example for Newton's third law of motion is flying a kite. As you're running one direction the wind is blowing against the kite which allows it to fly. The forces applied to this example are air resistance and gravity.

  23. A skydiver jumps out of a plane he starts accelerating downwards, until he reaches max/constant speed. This is the speed at which the drag from air resistance exactly balances the force of gravity pulling him down.The physics of skydiving involves the interaction between gravity and air resistance.Therefore skydiving is awesome and demonstrates Newton's 3 laws of motion by the gravity,parachute,and how fast/the motion.

  24. An example of Newton's first law would be when a soccer ball is rolling and a soccer player suddenly kicks the ball (unbalanced force). One force involved would be friction, since the ground is acting upon it.

  25. an example of newtons first law is pushing a car that's in neutral. It's harder to push because the friction caused by the tires and the gravity acted upon the car to the ground

  26. An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless aced upon unbalanced force.  Blood rushes from your head to your feet while quickly stopping when riding on a descending elevator.

    The reaction is equal to the force.
    If the reaction was bigger than the force, you would be in the air.
    If the force was bigger than the reaction, you would be in the ground. 3rd law

  31. A example of newtons first law is a fridge staing in its place unless somebody applies a force to it causing it to move.A force applied would be pushing it.

  32. The example i see is someone skatebording would show newton's first law.When the skateboard is just there it will stay at rest untill someone kicks off.The applied force would be the person pushing it.

  33. An example of Newton's first law of motion would be, when a box is pushed down a conveyor. The forces involved would be the applied force,gravity,and the normal force.
