Week 11 Blog, Due Sunday, November 11, 2012

We have been talking about many different forces throughout the week.  I would like to know which force(s) and/or concepts are the most confusing for you.  If you believe you have mastered all of the types of forces we have talked about and know the concepts equally as well, pick an object or situation and make some observations.  Tell me what the object or situation is and then tell me the forces involved, the approximate magnitude of each force, and in which direction each force is acting.  Remember, your post must be complete by 11:00 pm on Sunday for full credit.  You must make an original comment and comment on at least one other post for full credit.  Late posts will be reduced to half credit.  If you have any problems or have questions, please let me know by 4:00 pm Sunday.  May the force be with you!

  1. Ms. Ego i had many complications at first with figuring out how to find out these forces at first, i was very confused on how to get the net force, air resistance, gravity, etc. But now i am starting to get the hang of things now.

    1. Me too crystal. I was completely lost at first with things like the body diagrams. I'm starting to understand things a bit more though.

    2. i have trouble with air resistance and netforce too.

    3. Yes me too! But I think I'm getting the hang of it. :)

  2. Honestly I am still having trouble with this, but I am improving. The forces and concepts that are most complicating to me are net force, normal force and application force. I'm working on it though.

    2. I have trouble with the net force too. Getting better as well.

    3. Me too Edward I am also having trouble

  3. I ahve had trouble with figuring out how to find the force.Sometimes i know automatically but other times i go completely blank. i think i should stay for tutorials one day.

  4. My main problems are the formulas i dont know when to use them or what most of the formulas are

    1. yeah me to i get problems wrong because I used a formula wrong and it messes up my entire answer

    2. Yes, I have the same problem. I got the formulas confuse, but I think I'm getting it.

  5. One of the problems that I had trouble with was finding the net force of the free body diagrams that has all four forces being applied to the object. Like if you have to add or subrtact the forces or the formula because I forget which one to use for it.

    1. Yeah I have trouble finding the net force and struggle on choosing what formula to use too.I should show up for tutorials.

    2. I kinda get confused too. At times i can do it but sometimes I have no idea what formula to use

  6. One of the things that I am having trouble with is free body diagrams and how to find the forces on them.The questions on the warm-ups are easy and pretty much it's all common sense, but when it comes to working on them in a worksheet I am clueless as to what to do.I need help finding everything and always ask for help from others so it would be helpful if you went over them more on the board so I won't forget how to do them.

    1. Free Body Diagrams! Yes, me too. I honestly think if we get more practice problems our class will do a lot better with these.

    2. Mee too! I don't understand them either.

  7. The only thing that I'm confuse with, is identifying the air resistance force because i don't know which direction its going, but overall they seem easy.

  8. The thing i have trouble with is what formulas to use... I usually can work it out with no problem but when there is too many blank spots I tend to get kind of lost

    1. The formulas are easy they are:
      Fgrav = mg
      Fnet = ma
      m=mass
      g=9.8
      a=acceleration

      Delete
    2. Yeah i get lost when i see too many blanks as well!

      Delete
    3. I feel the same way! If there's too many blanks I get confused on what formulas to use for what.

  9. the only thing im confused about is normal force

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's not hard at all it's the opposite of gravity. No normal force you would go through the ground.

  10. I was having trouble with everything but now I think I got it.

  11. I have trouble when we have to fill in for the free body diagrams. I get confused as to what to plug in or i simply begin to mix up all the forces. I understand the concept of each but i get lost when i try to solve the problems like on the worksheet.

    1. Exact same problem with me, i just cant figure it out on problems.

    2. I get confused with the same thin especially the formulas.

  12. The only forces I have trouble with is air resistance and friction. I know what each of them are but sometimes I get confused on when they're being applied.

    1. My post wasn't on here D; but i did another one:D but i agree with your comment i don't know where to apply them.

  13. The thing i was having the most trouble with was the Ffric, Fapp, Fair, and Fnorm. I had trouble identifying which went with who and how to find them. After asking my classmates and you MANY questions i got the hang of it. I still think we should get more problems so it can can get easier for us.

    Replies
    1. yea, i still struggle with the Ffric and the Fair. But I'm slowly getting it

      Delete
    2. I think Ffric is the most confusing one to me. I wish I could say I'm slowly getting but its not lol

  14. Ms. Ego I know howto find the. Forces when the problem gives you at least the mass or acceleration but without one of those I have trouble figuring it out I guess more problems like that would help alot

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yeah I'm the same way I only understand it if it gives the mass and acceleration

  15. I think the most trouble I have with is the net force and normal force. Sometimes I'll understand how to figure it out and other times I just dont understand it.

    1. Yeah i had problems with that too, but now i finally understand it somewhat.

  16. My problem was in using the formulas, but i got it understand it now.

  17. My problem is the free-diagrams and finding the forces. When doing warm-ups they are really easy for me but when i get the worksheet I'm just so confused.

    1. Yea, same here that happens to me too. I understand it better now though.

  18. I was extremely confused when it came to using the formulas, but now that I know them it is extremely easy.

  19. My problem is determining the forces. Like applied force and whatnot. I get how to draw free body diagrams though.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes determing whitch force is what whatis also very difficult.

  20. my problem was just memorizing the formulas
    Fgrav -mg Fnet -ma m-mass g-9.8
    a-acceleration
    i think the real world applications for what we are learning are a great tool. angry birds may not be real but it's a modern idea!

  21. there is a stack of papers on a desk. there is the force of gravity which is moving down and there is a supporting force.
    this is where my understanding of supporting forces gets blurred. i am confused as to how Fnorm even works.

    ReplyDelete
  22. i kind of have problems with the free diagrams and finding the net forces like in the warmups

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've been having trouble with being able to find the forces acting on something by using the other information given, like when all the forces are shown i perfectly understand them and how to get them, but remove a few of them and its like i have never learned any of it in my life.

    1. Oh i have a problem with this too!! help me ms.ego!!!!!!

  24. I understand it better now but i'm still a little slow on working on them. I do have trouble on applied force and Fair , but when i have the formulas i get them. I just have trouble remembering the formulas.

  25. I think my only trouble is figuring out the air resistance and friction. I understand everything else pretty well. Honestly, I feel like more practice sheets would help many of us just get a better hang of it.

  26. -____-dude i thought i had already posted! I think the free body diagrams were hard at first but they are starting to get easy its just i cant remember the formulas and where to apply them.

  28. I dont really know the name of everything but the formulas help me figure out everything i do so its fairly easy. but is the free body diagram the one with the box and arrows? i get that. air ristance gave me trouble though

  29. I'm having some problems with the diagrams but kind of understanding them.Also I think I finally memorized all the formulas.

  30. I know how to get the forces & all but idk how to tell the difference between them all. FGrav is the only one I know for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have a lot of troube with the figuring out the equations. I know that Fgrav is equal to Fnorm and that G is 9.8. But it makes me mad that when you do it with is I get it but when I try to do it by myself, I can't do it.

  32. Most of the forces are easy to me. Most explain thereselfs like Gravity and Air resistance. The only thing is the body diagram. Other than that its just harder with all the equations. Whitch i
    have to learn myself.

  33. I kinda sorta get it, but I tend to doubt myself..A LOT!

  34. i didn't get the formulas and when to use them but i kind of get it now.

  35. When we first started I did not understand how to solve or do the problem , I was soooooooo confuse , but now I understand how to do this because I ask for help and question so I'm good now :-)
