Week 7 Blog, Due Sunday, October 13th, by 11:00 pm
This week we started Unit 3: Uniform acceleration. We are still graphing position vs. time(p-t) and velocity vs. time (v-t). I want you to compare and contrast the p-t and v-t graphs from the constant velocity unit (unit 2) with p-t and v-t graphs from the uniform acceleration unit (unit 3). Discuss the differences and explain why you think the graphs look differently (specifically, what is going on with the object's motion to cause the change in the graphs.) Since I am posting this blog late, I am going to give you a few extra days to get it done. Your comments and replies need to be posted by Wednesday night. If you have questions, please let me know. Remember, if you have trouble posting, you can post your comments and replies on edmodo.com under the link to the blog. You can also email your response to me through the district website or gmail, respond on twitter, or text your responses. In order to receive full credit, you must post an ORIGINAL comment PLUS a REPLY to another person's report. Keep it friendly and clean and most of all, no texting language. Happy Blogging!

Position vs time is when you can see where an object went at a certain time as in were it started and ended (describes motion)... Velocity vs time shows you how fast an object is moving..... Am I right or am I wrong?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the velocity vs. time shows more of how fast, but of its constant motion and displacement. Do I make sense?
Delete^ you do make sense ^
DeletePosition vs time graphs give an easy way of determining an object’s displacement at any given time, and a subtler way of determining that object’s velocity at any given time. Velocity vs. time tell directly what the velocity of an object is at any given time, and they provide a means to determine both the position and acceleration of the same object over time.
ReplyDeleteYou can also find displacement on the velocity vs time graph in the area under the curve.
Deletei understand your explanation a lot!
Deletegood explanation:)
DeleteThe position vs. time graph has the slope of the line to show velocity and clearly gives you the motion of which way the object is moving. The velocity vs. time graph the slope of the line show acceleration and the shape of the line shows how it changes throughout the time that has passed.
ReplyDeleteThis helped me understand it way better, and I agree with you.
DeleteI like the way you explained it. I understand it much better.
DeleteI like your explanation.
DeleteYou are cool girl. I like you how you did this explanation. ii
DeleteVery in depth explanation, it helped me a lot.
DeletePosition vs. time tells you how far the object is moving away from the initial position, while velocity vs. time tells you the velocity of an object and also it's displacement.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't of said it any better myself! :)
DeleteI thought the displacement would be shown through the position vs. time graph...
DeleteThe position vs time graph reveals the velocity and displacement of an object. The velocity vs time graph indicates if the speed is slowing down or speeding up at a given time.
ReplyDeleteWell one of the differences that I see of the pt and.vt graphs from unit 2 and 3 is the way the line goes. On unit 2 the line goes in a constant motion while on unit 3 the line goes in a curve motion. They still measure the same thing both unit 2 and 3 but it's just the way the graph looks like that makes it different.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by still measure the same?
DeleteThe position vs time graph shows the distance an object traveled for the initial position to the final position in a certain amount of time. The velocity vs time graph tells you the velocity and also shows the displacement.
ReplyDeleteThe way you explained it really helped me to understand it. thanks
DeleteReally good explanation. Thanks alot!
DeleteThe position vs time graph has a slope to show the motion and velocity. The velocity vs time graph shows position and acceleration that changes over time.
ReplyDeleteThe P-V shows the motion of the object by giving the slope, as well as showing the velocity. And the V-T graph gives you the displacement by showing you where the initial start and initial finish is and the velocity.
ReplyDeleteThanks, helped me understand it much better!
DeleteThe position vs. time graph allows you to see the distance an object traveled all through the initial and final position, while the velocity vs. time graph only allows you to see the velocity of the object and its displacement throughout.

DeleteI totally agree with your statement. Your statement really broke it down for me. :)
DeleteThe position vs. time shows you where the object is at and the time it took it to be in that place, from the initial to final position. Velocity vs. time shows the displacement and the velocity of the object.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you
DeleteThe p-v graph in unit 2 showed the position of an object at a given time and it contains a constant speed, in unit 3 the graph starts to curve because the object starts to speed up every second.
ReplyDeleteThe v-t graph in unit 2 has a slope of 0 because the object moves at a constant speed, in unit 3 the slope of the line varies because of the objects acceleration
very well eplained
DeleteA position vs. time graph shows how fast an object is traveling at a certain time. and A velocity vs. time is a graph that shows displacement and acceleration.
ReplyDeleteNice and simple.
Deletecouldn't have said it better myself.
Delete(Unit 2) A position-time graph shows where an object is during a specific time and the velocity-time graphs showed how fast an object was going between specific intervals.
ReplyDelete(Unit 3) The position-time graph's slope will show you the velocity of an object, including the displacement (if any changes occur). The velocity-time graphs show the overall direction and acceleration of an object in the given time.
The position vs. time graph shows the distance an object travels in an amount of time. The velocity vs. time graph shows where an object starts and stops and its acceleration. i hope this is right...
ReplyDeleteThe position vs. Time graph show the distance an object travels at a certain time. The velocity vs. Time graph shows the velocity of an object at a given time
ReplyDeleteThe position vs. time graph shows how far the object traveled in a certain amount of time while a velocity vs. time graph shows the velocity and displacement of an object.
ReplyDeleteOh, snap. I think you should become a physics teacher!
DeleteAnd velocity shows what general direction the object is moving in
DeleteDude I totally got it, thanks man!
ReplyDeleteThe position vs. time graph involves meters and seconds the line shows the position of the objects at a certain time and the velocity vs. time graph shows the velocity of the object.
ReplyDeleteOn Unit 2 P vs T graphs, the slopes are straight with NO curves. In Unit 3 P vs T graphs, you see curves as a form of increasing or decreasing speed. This applies to velocity graphs on Unit 3 as well; clearly you see curves there too. The data on velocity graphs for Unit 2 are more horizontal with constancy shown.
ReplyDeletein p v. t can the speed decrease or increase to?
DeleteP v. T describe motion.Specific features of the motion of objects are demonstrated by the shape and the slope of the lines on a position vs. time graph.
ReplyDeleteThe slope of the line on a velocity-time graph reveals useful information about the acceleration of the object and the slope of the line on a position-time graph reveals useful information about the velocity of the object as the time goes on.
ReplyDeleteThe P vs T graphs in Unit showed up the position of an object at a certain time, without curved slopes, however, in Unit 3, the slopes of the lines tend to have curves in certain positions and times. The velocity graphs horizontally showed us the velocity of the object.
ReplyDeleteThe position vs time graphs in unit 2 didn't curve upwards or downwards like the ones on unit 3. They show the displacement of the object. The velocity graphs in unit 2 were horizontal and the ones on unit 3 were not they had a positive or negative slope. This shows the velocity of the object and the ones in unit 3 can help on finding the acceleration.
ReplyDeleteIn the position vs time graph, graphs similiar to the ones in unit 3 would have a curve and those like unit 2 would be a straight line. velocities in unit 2 would be parallel to the x axis and those like unit 3 would have a slant slope, unit 2 can't determine acceleration.
ReplyDeleteYou're right
DeleteGood observation.
DeleteIn Unit 2 the P-T Graphs determine the objects speed and/ or velocity, but were mainly straight lines going in either the positive, or negative direction. Where as the V-t graphs didn't determine acceleration. However, in Unit 3 P-t graphs are curved and more rounded coming out of the initial starting point. Although the V-t graphs are slanted, it determines the object's acceleration.
ReplyDeletePosition vs time graphs give a way of determining an object’s displacement at any given time, and a easier way of determining that object’s velocity at any given time. Velocity vs. time tell directly what the velocity of an object is at any given time, and they provide a means to determine both the position and acceleration of the same object over time.
ReplyDeleteThis really helped me understand the difference.
DeleteVelocity vs. time is when the acceleration area under the curve and acceleration vs. time changes its velocity.
ReplyDeletei didnt imagine it like that way
ReplyDeleteThe formula for velocity vs. time is 1/2 base times height right??????
ReplyDeleteThe position vs time tells you how far an object Is moving from the original position, and velocity vs time just tells you the displacement.
ReplyDeletecompared to unit 2, unit 3 position time graph now have slope to tell if a object is either speeding up or slowing down. unit 3 velocity time graphs show acceleration as well.
ReplyDeleteThe p-t graph shows you how much an object went in a certain amount of time while the v-t graph shows the velocity of the object.
ReplyDeleteThe p-t graph displays how far an object travels at that given time. The v-t graph demonstrates the velocity of an object at that given time. The p-t graphs in unit 2 did not curve as those in unit 3.
