Week #13 Blog, Due Sunday, December 1st by 11:00 pm

Since many of you are still struggling to keep up with the notes and the assignments, we need to do some reflecting.  So, for this weeks blog, you must answer ALL of the following questions:

1.  What does PreAP mean?  That is, what makes a class PreAP?  How does a PreAP class compare to a regular level class?
2. What are the benefits of being in a PreAP class vs. a regular class?
3.  You must give me a valid argument for why you should continue to be in a PreAP class.  You must use supporting statements.  What are you willing to do to stay in a PreAP class?  What do you need to change going forward to be more successful?

Remember, the work load will not decrease. Starting December 1st, there will only be makeup work for missed assignments.  In order to get credit for the makeup assignment it must be completed within ONE WEEK of the missed assignment.  There is NO MORE EXTRA CREDIT after December 1st.  The last day for test corrections will be December 3rd.  If you are absent, you are expected to check edmodo for any work you may have missed.  You should know and be comfortable with the routine and the expectations of this class by now, so this safety net should no longer be needed.  If you do not give me a good argument for your remaining in PreAP, you will be moved to a regular level class OR you will remain in my class, but be re-classified as a regular level physics student and the work you will receive will be that of a regular physics class.  If you have questions, you need to ask me BEFORE the due date.  Remember, if you have trouble posting to the blog website, you can email your responses to physicswithego@gmail.com or respond on edmodo.com.  In order to receive full credit, you must post an original comment and reply to at least one other comment.  Happy Blogging!

  1. 1.A class that is pre ap usually has more work and it moves a lot faster than a regular class.
    2. The benefits are the higher gpa and the faster it moves and also it covers more interesting topics.
    3. I want to stay in pre ap because I like it and the homework assignments are good practice. I am willing to work harder and ask Ms.Ego questions when I don't understand something. I need to change the amount of time i stay for tutorials when I don't understand something.

    3. It's nice to not be question-shy. Your question may be one that others have as well, so be the brave one to ask it.

  2. A PreAP class is usually PreAP because of the expectations and the work that has to be done. A regular class isn't required to do as much work or projects as PreAP.
Being in a PreAP class will count towards your GPA and plus it can help you prepare for AP courses.
I should continue in PreAP because I am determined when it comes to my school work. I like taking advanced classes and plus I know they will benefit me once I graduate. I will change my way of studying, start looking over my notes more, and staying as often as I can for tutorials.

  3. A PreAP class is the starting point of an advance placement class. Being place in an advance class you get double the work. It gets you a somewhat feeling of how college classes will be. Regular is WAY different from PreAP, in regular teachers baby you. They are not setting the standers of college. By the time I'm in college I will get use to the loads of work there will be because of having advance classes.
I should continue on the journey of PreAP because education is what my future is depended on. I can not let it go to waste. I am capable of having advance classes and I will prove it. One thing I would change is the way I over think when I take test because that is what kills me the most.

  4. Pre-AP classes are classes that are meant to test your ability to keep up with more work and prepare you for harder tasks that might come in the future. Being in a Pre-AP class benefits both your GPA and your learning skills. I should remain in a Pre-AP class because, unlike many others, I am committed to my school work and towards improving my skill, which will benefit me in the the future.

  5. A PreAP course is trying to prepare the students for college. PreAP classes consist of in-depth material, that allows the student to get in detail with the subject. A PreAP class is different than a regular class since its more challenging. The benefits of a PreAP class is that it prepares you for college and even gives you more points for your GPA. I would like to continue to have PreAP courses since it is more challenging and allows me to remain focused in school, since it gives me new goals to reach everyday. In order to continue having PreAP classes, I am willing to try harder and be determined to study constantly. I need to change my studying habits and how I prioritize my daily activities in order to be successful in the future.

  6. A pre-ap class is a more advanced class than a regular class would be. It is more work and faster paced and provides students with more of a challenge. The benefits are integrated within the learning atmosphere itself. Such as being responsible and getting us as students ready for the challenges ahead. I would like to stay in pre-ap due to the environment it's in and the way in which we are taught. I need to start focusing more and asking questions more frequently. I need to start doing homework and make a more prominent change in my working habits.

  7. 1. PreAP means Preadvanced placement. Therefore we receive a larger workload and harder work than a regular class. It also move at a faster pace than regular.
2 Being in PreAP boosts your Rank and raises your GPA.
    3. I want to continue being in PreAP because I like the challenges it provides me with.I also llearn an college skills that I will need ipin the future. However , in order to be more successful I will study more frequently and attend tutorials more often especially when I have questions.

  8. A Pre-AP class is a class that has more advanced work than a regular class and goes more in depth with the topics. When you're in Pre-AP, it boosts your GPA, and will look good when colleges see that you've been involved in a Pre-AP class. I should stay in a Pre-AP class because I understand the topics clearly and I want to continue challenging my self. In order to improve my grades in a Pre-AP class, I need to get more sleep so I can focus on my work better and I will attend tutorials more often when I need some help on any work I might have questions on.

  9. 1. A PreAP class is a PreAdvanced Placement class. To be in a PreAP class means more hard work, more effort, and faster thinking. Since being in a PreAP class is a priviledge, the class should be composed of students who are willing to put the extra effort to go that extra mile. Unlike a regular class, a PreAP class has more homework and activities that go deeper into detail in every unit.
    2. The biggest benefit in my opinion is getting higher GPA points. Getting a B in a PreAP class will give you more points in your GPA rather than getting an A in a regular class.
    3. I should stay in the PreAP class because I'm willing to put that extra mile and effort for my grade. I love challenges and actually like learning. I'm willing to keep going to tutorials when I feel like I need them or even go to help out my classmates. I think I will stop procrastinating in homework so I get the concept of the material better.

  10. 1) a pre-ap class is above regular yet below ap. It gives out more work and goes faster than a regular class.
    2) being in a pre-ap class helps us with our ranking and helps prepare us for college classes and professors.
    3) I believe I should stay in this class because unlike the beginning of the year I actually care now and am planning to bring my grade up. I'm understanding it more now that I ask questions and state my doubts. Plus now that I'm getting the hang of how everyone teaches I know who to study for and when and what to ask about. I have new motivations and am planning to at least have all high B's in my next report card!

  12. Pre-AP is a form of segregation in education. This is the sad truth, placing "smarter" kids in a different class.I believe mostly everyone is equally capable, but it's just the amount of effort they actually put into the course. Also, you have to factor in the speed at which a student can learn. That is one of the differences between the educational categories. Not necessarily the amount of work that gets done, since that all depends on the teacher.
The benefits vary, but for sure, a higher GPA is always nice. That's if you take advantage of it because if you get a C- and a regular kid gets an A+, then the other student got more points. Plus, with the classes segregated, advanced students get stuck with each other and they tend to actually care about school, so they are more keen to learn.
My grades and effort do the arguing for me. As far as improving, tutorials is always an option, which I do like going to whenever I have the chance.

Pre ap and regular class learn the same things the diffren e is that preap class goes faste r than the regular class; we get more hw andwe get major projects than the regular class. I want to remain in preap class because I have developed skills that have help me a lot, and to improve my learning and grade I will go to tutorials for help and ask questions in class :)

  15. Ok well im pretty sure everyone has been waiting for my answer and here it is
Pre Ap basically means pre advanced class where there is a little bit more work and it moves faster than regular. Some benefits that you get from being in a pre ap class that you don't get in a pre ap class is that you get more grade points and higher gpa points than of regular people. I should stay in this class because I want to challenge myself to harder stuff that way when I get to college I.will be prepared and ready to go and also because ms ego is a good teacher.

  17. Pre Advanced Placement is to prepare you to the next step which is a AP class. These classes are designed to help prepare students for college for it consists of more work and a lot more responsibility. The classes are offered to those students who want challenging courses and who are motivated to put in the extra work that is given unlike a regular class that gives you minimal work. Aside of helping a student become prepared for college it also helps students challenge themselves a lot more. With extra work and less time to do it too having to read more than a regular class student. All those things add up and  help the individual manage there time and potentially learn more. Being in an a PreAp class has really helped me challenge myself more. I have developed skills that I wouldn't necessarily received in a regular class. I have learned a lot more to detail in a given subject. Besides of all the things I have learned a big think for me is time management. Procrastination is the biggest obstacle I need to over come and I am willing to do so. Also making time to study is something I will do a lot more to be successful.

  21. 1. PreAp means that a higher level of education is being offered to students who are determine to accept the challenge of such higher education. A class is classified as a PreAP class when all the students within the class are working efficiently and productively to achieve high scores and receive the criteria. A PreAP class is suppose to be working at a fast pace while understanding what is being taught and receiving grades anywhere from an 85 or above. A PreAP class is one where every single student in the class is suppose to be on the same page, per say, working at the same fast pace, keeping up, and receiving high percentages on test. A PreAp class differs from a regular class in ways that in a regular class students aren't pressured to work beyond their capabilities, they work in a slower pace for various reasons.
    2. There are many benefits for being in a PreAp class, from working in a faster pace class where you are learning quicker, receiving the criteria earlier, being able to receive high grade point average points, and applying for college applications, as well as joining some school organizations.
    3. I am determined to do whatever I can to help myself in staying in PreAp, if I don't fully understand a certain thing I tend to stay for tutorials when I can, even when I've been absent I have stopped staying for other activities so I can catch up on my missed assignments. I really like the pace of a PreAp class, not only have I made some not so good grades but I've learned from my mistakes and was even able to assist others at our last saturday school. I'm just determine to do what I have to do to keep my grades high and keep on learning and striving.

  22. A PreAP class means that it is moving at a faster pace then that of a regular class. What makes the class PreAP is the effort and the work one needs to apply to be successful. In a regular class the work is not as much and they move at a slower pace, a PreAP moves faster because we are expected to comprehend things better.
The benefits of being in a pre-ap class is that you get to challenge yourself, rather than just have it easy. It prepares you with study skills for future references like college classes. In a regular class you may not go into depth but in a PreAP class you do, this is an advantage overall.
I would like to remain in this PreAP class because it challenges me and eventually it makes me understand that you have to work for what you want. If I don't study then of course I will get mediocre results and if I do it allows me to plan even better for my next study secession. I personally need to change a lot of my study skills, and I need to be more on point with my homework because that is what is keeping me from not fully understanding what we are learning.

  23. Like you said during the TALK you gave us last time being in a Pre-Ap class means more work and more effort on our part. Also the title pre-ap means is to get us ready for college like classes and it wont do so if we don't get a lot of work. Even if not all the time we can keep up is on us to go back and review also ask for help not only you as a teacher but also our classmates who may not understand it and I figured recently we can post our questions on edmodo for anyone to answer I think that would help a lot we can answer each other questions . Also in order to pass the class we need to challenge ourselves more because we are prea ap and in regular classes we are always complaining of how things are to easy and we finish to early.

  24. 1. A Pre-AP class to me is a class where you learn stuff faster and you get a higher GPA than in a regular class. It moves faster than a regular class and the material you learn is more complex than it would be in a regular class.
2.The benefits of being in a Pre-AP class is the fact that you get a higher GPA than you would in a regular class. You get to learn more interesting material than you would if you dint have Pre-AP.

I am willing to do anything it takes to stay in a Pre-AP class. I plan on studying more than I usually do and i will start putting all my effort into my work. I will change my study habits.

  25. 1. Pre-AP to me personally means a higher difficulty level where the material is challenging and face-paced than regular and that it prepares you for the work load in a AP class. In a regular class the assignments aren't as much as a Pre-AP class would receive in a short amount of time.
    2. The benefits of attending and being placed in a Pre-AP class is having more of a AP prep type setting that more or less insights you of how a college setting would be like. You also receive more credit or higher GPA if you make an A or even a C in a Pre-Ap class than a regular because the class is weighed more.
    3. I believe I truly belong in this Pre-AP class because it has helped me be more responsible and shown me that not everyone is going to "spoon feed you" the work and hold your hand. We have to actually work for it and earn these extra points to our GPA. I am willing to whatever I need to do to insure my success in this class. It isn't a choice but is mandatory for me to be prosperous in life and it all starts now. What I need to change is my attitude towards giving up quickly on concepts I don't get right at that moment and instead try and try until I understand it fully to my ability. I need to also do extra work on my own time such as little quizzes at home dealing with the notes you give us as a way to study more. I'm looking forward to working harder than I already am. ( So sorry for my tardyness...I didn't realize we had a blog over the break until I checked it today )
