Semester II Week #2 Blog, Due on Wednesday, February 5th by 11:00 pm
We have been learning about forces and Newton's Laws for several months now. What concepts are still confusing or causing you difficulty? Are the free body diagrams getting easier or are they still confusing? What types of activities or resources do you think would be helpful to you? What have you been doing to get a better understanding of forces and acceleration? Remember, in order to receive full credit, you must post an original comment PLUS reply to someone else's comment. Happy Blogging!

I understand the free body diagrams but I still have trouble setting up the equations when it asks for a quantitative diagram. I think I would understand it better if I was told which force goes first or if it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with the equation part.
DeleteThe free body diagrams I'm pretty good at. The beginning of setting up the equation i also get but its towards the end I start to get confused. I watch some videos on forces and its somewhat helps me.
ReplyDeleteI should try watching some videos too. Maybe it will help me more.
DeleteYeah maybe videos will help. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteI'm going to consider watching some videos on my spare time now.
DeleteMaybe you should ask your wonderful friends for help as well. Good suggestion with the videos though. They never fail.
DeleteLolololol @wonderful friends....like you Lourdes Rodriguez [x
DeleteI'm going to start watching some videos on my free time from now on that's a great idea...
DeleteI get confused with the set up of kinematic equations with net force. I have no problem with the force diagrams and the types of activities that helped me is writing the notes down and studying. Also doing my homework helps me understand these concepts better.
ReplyDeleteI also get confused with the set up of kinematic equations.
Deletethat's true but sometimes I need help with my hw.
DeleteI sometimes have trouble with the free body diagrams after setting it up. When it involves sin cos and tan i get confused at where in supposed to put the theta in the free body diagram. But from there i understand the rest. I think that doing warm-ups now are helping me alot. I've been doing my homework and trying to study.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by 'where to put the theta?'
DeleteI know what you mean, I get confused with the angles and where they go...
Deletewhen it comes to the equations im still very confuse I need more help with those and free body diagrams are getting easier but at the same time still confusing when there's angles an axis. I thing maybe going thru a couple more problems together will help understand better.
ReplyDeleteMy exact same problem and I'm sure the majority of people in physics feel the same way.
DeleteAt first I struggled with free body diagrams however now they are very easy for me no matter how complex they get. However once an angle gets involved I seem to overthink and get confused. I think going over problems together would help. I KNOW that the majority of the class could use the extra practice on problems that go beyond just free body diagrams. Usually I try to attend tutorials but there's usually too many people there.
ReplyDeleteSame here, yeah I think going over a couple more problems and breaking down the whole process would help a lot and maybe show a youtube video or two might help us get a better understanding.
DeleteI also get confused when we have to find the angles
DeleteThe only thing that really gets me are the quanitative free body diagrams I strugle with those a whole lot, but everything else I think I'm okay.
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams are pretty easy till you have to put the equations, I understand how to do the equations but I'm a little confused on when I have to use them. I'm going to look over my notes and do my homework to get a better understanding of it.
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams are slowly getting easier to do. The part that confuses me is when the numbers come in. I start over thinking of which angle is the degrees shown in the picture. I understand the original equation, however, I start slowly getting confused when I see sin and cos. Lately I've been trying to do my homework on my own without any help and when I am stuck, I go for help with others.
ReplyDeleteI also get confused when I see sin and cos.
DeleteThe free body diagrams are not hard, but is the equations that I don't understand. Whenever I write an equation, it turns out to be wrong. I ask classmates to help when I have trouble on writing down an equation. I feel that homework we get really helps out too.
ReplyDeleteHomework does help.
DeleteI feel you on this one
DeleteThe homework really helps me out.
Deleteyup, i agree.. beacause hw has helped me :)
DeleteI think the new concepts are kinda difficult. The free body diagrams are getting easier with more practice.I have been asking people for help when I don't understand something and that helps a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe new concepts are more difficult to me too. I also need to practice it more and ask for help.
DeleteI understand the freebody diagrams but as i start on the equation for it i start to get bit doubtful about it. I have asked for help which has made me better about it though.
ReplyDeleteThe equations do make me feel a bit ambiguous as well.
DeleteYeah, when i do the problems I sometimes doubt myself too.
DeleteI feel you man, especially the ones with components and stuff.
DeleteFree body diagrams have always been a pretty easy concept. I get confused when we have to set up an equation and numbers get involved. I've been doing my homework and I think maybe watching some tutorial videos or having a student who gets the material explain to me will help me understand.
ReplyDeletewatching videos seems like a helpful way to learn too!
DeleteI can relate! When angles & numbers are added to the FBD It gets confusing.
DeleteI think watching some videos could help me a lot too.
DeleteFree Body diagrams have always been pretty easy for me. The only thing that confuses me are the components. I know they're not hard, i just have to study them more and ill be good. I've been asking for help and I've been studying my notes when things don't stick to me so I should be good.
ReplyDeleteTutorials are also very helpful.
DeleteI understand mostly everything except some equations you write out. Instead of writing out equations I just answer the question without out them, but I should get into the habit of writing them out.
ReplyDeletefree body diagrams are fairly easy at this point now but i still struggle with the extra equations that are added into the FDB. i feel like past references would help me better understand the concept.
ReplyDeletei feel you bro :')
DeleteFree body diagrams are are alright, but i'm not a master. If only somehow i could steal a physics book to study, i could become a master.
ReplyDeleteI'm understanding more concepts but the quantitative diagrams still get me. I've tried figuring out what formulas to use and when to use them by going over solved problems that I know are correct but once i try doing them by myself I'm confused all over again. Force and acceleration is getting easier though. I looked up some formulas to help me with the homework and they've helped a lot. Plus going over our notes helps me understand, and when I have questions in class Maria helps me. :)
ReplyDeleteThe force diagrams are really easy for me. The part where i struggle is finding the other sides of triangles. I also have a little trouble when finding the accelaration but I have been getting better at it. I have been studying a little more to give me the extra help I need.
ReplyDeleteI can never figure out when to use the triangles
DeleteSome of the things I'm still having trouble with is the equations that we do for our components. There will be times when it makes sense to me but sometimes I get confused doing it by myself. The free body diagrams are easier than the beginning. I have been completing more homework to comprehend better.
ReplyDeleteI mostly confused about what equation to use when solving problems with numbers involved. I think I’m getting better with the free body diagrams because we’ve been doing a lot of problems with them. For help, I can go to tutorials more often and keep looking at youtube videos to understand better.
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams are becoming easier, however I still get confused in where to but the given degree. I think in order to fully grasp them, I need to work on more examples.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing that would throw me off in class where the free body diagrams with the components and a given angle, however i think I have gotten better at them since at first I really didn't understand them. Studying and in class work has improved me in those types of problems though.
ReplyDeleteYes, that was confusing for me too, but I have been improving on the understanding of them.
DeleteThe force diagrams are still a little confusing. I have a better understanding of them than before. I have been asking my clasdmate for help, which that have helped.
ReplyDeleteIm getting better with the free body diagrams, but i do have problems with figuring out which numbers go where in the equation(i get confused) we have been doing problems on the white board and i think we should continue doing that beacause it has help me understand better and see where i made the error in the problem and correct myself :) -----lauri----
ReplyDeleteI agree, the activity with the whiteboards helps alot!
DeleteThe free body diagrams are getting easier and paying more attention in class is helping me understand. I think we should keep doing activities on the white boards because it seems to help most people.
ReplyDeleteI also think the activities on the white boards are help!
DeleteI understand the free body diagrams but when it comes to setting up the equations thats when i get a little confused. I am going to review more and do more practice problems
ReplyDeleteWhat gets very difficult for me is mostly kinemati equations and when /how to use soh cah toa. The free body diagrams aren't a problem anymore
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams are easy, no problem, the part that starts confusing me is when you have to add the angles and plugging them in the equation. Doing warm ups and staying for after school tutorials will help me out with this.
ReplyDeleteThat confuses me, the angles and stuff. It throws me off..
DeleteSorry for replying late. During those weeks I kept having trouble with the number setup I didn't understand where the numbers went or why they went there in the first place as for the body diagram I have a better hang of it.
ReplyDeleteI totally have the same issue at times in which I don't understand were the numbers are plugged into the equation go. But the notebook can really help though.
DeleteI agree the angles are difficult the placement and then figuring what axis goes in.
ReplyDeleteI still have difficulty working with quantitative diagrams. The FBD did get easier as time past. For me it is more helpful when you do problems with the class on the board (like today). As the second semester started I have been getting tutoring from some of my friends that understand physics.
ReplyDeleteI feel you bro
DeleteWhat is challenging to me the most are equations. Knowing how to set them up at times is vey confusing but with more practice problems I feel that I will be able to understand much better. The free body diagram have become easier overtime because of how how much time we have spend on them. The thing that has really been helping me is the notebook were we keep all of the notes. I reference the notebook alot when am trying to figure a problem.
ReplyDeletethe free body diagrams are getting easier for me since we have been doing worksheets and whiteboards in class.however i still have problems with the equations & knowing what equations to use. what has helped me is the worksheets we have done and the activity with the white boards that we did today
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams have gotten easier to set up. I start to get confused when I have to figure out where the angle goes and how to set up the equation. However, working out problems together on the white boards as well as studying my notes has helped me a lot.
ReplyDeleteFree body diagrams are are alright, but i'm not a master. If only somehow i could steal a physics book to study, i could become a master.
ReplyDeleteSame here Jose i mean i get them but im not a master yet.
DeleteWell honestly i really get how to do the newton's second law questions but sometimes the free body diagrams throw me off but other that im good. The free body diagrams are getting a little bit easier because only a few forces are to be drawn. Well a activity that would be helpful for me is to learn how to master free body diagrams. The thing i have done to get better with forces and acceleration is actually pay attention in class and practicing with the homework problems.
ReplyDeleteThe free body diagrams is what I'm still kind of struggling with. I don't get it 100% but I get the overall idea, but I have complications with them from time to time. I've been doing practice problems that I find online and they seem to be helping.
