Semester II Week #3 Blog, Due Sunday, February 9th by 11:00 pm
We have been talking about forces for several weeks now. Take a look around you. What forces can you identify from your surroundings? What forces are acting on you while sitting, running, jumping, falling, etc.? Think about a time when you went to an amusement park, carnival, swimming pool, or Splash Town. What forces were acting on you then? Try to identify forces for an activity/situation that has not already been done by someone else. Remember to post an original comment PLUS reply to at least one other person's comment in order to receive full credit. If you have trouble posting on blogger, post your comment and reply on edmodo. When I went to Splashtown and i would get on a water slide the forces acting on me would be gravity, perpendicular force,and the force of friction.

DeleteAlso drag because the air resistance as you go downwards adds on.
DeleteDrag is also a force when a person is in the water.
DeleteThe forces acting on a poster in my room would be tension and gravity. Forces from walking would be traction, gravity, and normal force. While go carting there would be a force of traction, gravity, normal force, and various amounts of friction just because parts the road would be smoother than others

DeleteWhile i run there is gravity, normal, drag, and traction forces working on me. Also when i pull the string to turn my fan on there is tension and gravitational forces on the fan.

DeleteThe forces acting on me during the summer when I jump of the small bridges of the harbor side in Texas city are gravity, applied force and when I float up buoyance.

DeleteWhen I went to a lake last summer there was a rope swing. The forces acting on the rope swing are tension and gravity.

DeleteWell right now im at the library sitting down on a chair (how weird) and well the forces acting on the chair are gravity by earth, force of weight by me, normal force by the floor and that would be it because the chair is not moving at all.

DeleteWhenever you pick up your pencil to write the force of gravity causes the pencil to stay in your hand. While the friction from your fingers is what gets the pencil moving and the normal force by the surface you are writing on.

Deleteevery morning when I dance at practice the force of gravity , the normal force and friction act on me when I do spins barefoot on the gym floor or when I do jumps.

DeleteWhen I play tennis, the force of gravity holds me to the ground, I apply force to the tennis ball, the normal force keeping me steady, and when I run for a ball the friction force enables me to move forward.

DeleteWhen I went to jensen last winter there was a light cable swinging. The forces acting on the light cable swing were tension and gravity.

ReplyDeleteForces act on everything we do but what really intrigues me the most is the forces that act when one swims. Gravity is of course acting but buoyancy is another force that acts when swimming. I also believe that thrust acts when a person moves his or her hands and feet.

DeleteForces that act upon me are gravity, normal force, friction, and applied force. Those are some of the main ones I use everyday. When I went to Universal Studios I got on the Hulk roller coaster which had a loop. That loop used a force of are net force, gravity,accelerating force, and applying force.

Forces that are acting on a human while playing tug of war are the tension, applied, and friction force. The forces acting while on a roller coaster are gravity, normal, applied, friction, tension, and traction

DeleteAs I lay in bed (which Is most of the time) I am being affected by the force of gravity, but I do not see myself going into the Earth thanks to the normal force of my bed. Since, I like to use my phone, as I lay here, I have to apply a force to counter gravity and balance the forces on my phone, so I could see it comfortably. There have been scenarios where I lose grip and the phone just smashes my face like a dense rock falling on a mirror. Just imagine using the restroom without gravity, hah.

DeleteAs I am sat here watching the Sochi Winter Olympics a gravitational force is being applied on me and a normal force is as well since I am not floating around. Also, I am applying force on the keys on my laptop as I type this comment.

ReplyDeleteWHen i play xbox theres a force applied to hold the conrtoller ,a frictional force that keeps the controller from slipping, and a gravity force pushing down on the controller.
