Week 9 Blog, Due Sunday, October 28th, 2012

Its time to think about Science Fair!  For this week's blog, I want everyone to visit the official website for the Houston Science and Engineering Fair.  This is the link: http://www.sefhouston.org/students-parents-teachers .  I want you to click on some of the links to see what different information is available to you.  Now, for this week's assignment.  You need to locate the entry form and look it over.  At some point, you will need to print the form and fill out all of the information before the school science fair on November 13th.  Find the section that lists the categories for science fair.  For this week's post, I want you to identify which category your project falls under.  I also want you to tell me one other thing you saw on the website.  It can be anything you find helpful or interesting.  If you are not completing a major science fair project because you are choosing to participate in history fair instead, please let me know if you are going to complete the photograph entry or the research paper.  Remember, you must complete an original post PLUS comment on someone else's post for full credit.  Posts must be complete by 11:00 pm Sunday for full credit as well.  Happy posting!

  1. My project falls under the category of Behavioral/Social Sciences. Something interesting I found on the website was on the reviews and guidelines section. It has internet sources for research and it reviews what the purpose, hypothesis, etc. is.

  3. I don't know where the categories are but I already know mine! Human psychology. Primarly focusing on memory and the use of Mneumonics (memory aids) something I found interesting was that I must get permission from the principal and that Houston uses a book of rules and guidelines for science fair

    1. To find the categories, click where its says rules and guidelines on the website. Then click where it says houston rules and guidelins(pdf). It should send you to a document with all the guildlines and rules. Keep scrolling down till it says Project Categories.

  8. I could not find the categories :( But Guadalupe and I are going to do our project on Memory Retention. I learned that you must have a hypothesis, data, procedure, results, and data analysis on your board. You must have a bibliography and have to fill out all the required forms that go with your project.

  9. My science fair project falls under the behavioral science category. One thing that I found very helpful was the Poster Design Contest document because its states everything that is expected on the poster board and the things that are not allowed as well.

  10. My group's project falls under the category of Botany/Plant Science. What I found interesting is that the SEFH is also having a Poster Design contest to encourage an artistic view of science and engineering.
